In 1997, Albin Johnson organized and formed a group of costumers with Storm Trooper armor into what is now a fully functional world wide organization of costumers and fans, the 501st. I officially joined this group in 2004 and have been a proud member ever since.
My Garison, the Southern Outpost, consists of members from 4 states;Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. I love each and every member and like to call them family. We meet usually once a month or more to construct, discuss, or wear our costumes and do what we do best, Troop!
We've trooped for various charities and organizations that help the community, as well as events for kids and conventions.
Two of our members marched in the 2007 Rose Bowl parade, in which George Lucas himself was the Grand Marshal. 200 members from all around the world marched in their plastic armor. It was a sight to behold!
